☆ usagi's diary entry 1 - text + pictures
Hey everyone! I just thought I'd write this in here since I know some people were wondering about my allies before and all, and.. well, a lot happened lately, so I've got to keep my friends here up to date too, right? You're all super important to me too, after all!
After some fights with monsters, us four sailor soldiers are finally complete! They're all so great! Luna yelled at me and told me to not tell anyone about it, but I know I can trust you guys. Our secret, okay? Hehe!
This is Ami-chan! She goes to the same school as me, but she's on a whole different level, you know! She's the local genius girl and they say she has an IQ of over 300.. which is.. um, a lot, I guess? [ Good job, Usagi. ] She's Sailor Mercury!
And then this here is Rei-chan. She's a beautiful shrine maiden, but honestly, her temper's pretty scary! She seems to have some sort of sixth sense too.. and her power as Sailor Mars is fire! Since she's hot-headed, get it?! Hehehe, I thought that one was so funny!
And then the last one aside from me is Mako-chan! She looks sort of scary, but she's honestly really sweet, sort of like a big sister! And her food is delicious, I'll have to ask her for cake sometime.. oh, and she's really strong, it's like she is tough yet really feminine, it's amazing! She's Sailor Jupiter.
And I know I've already told some people about Tuxedo Mask, but.. when I said I was handsome, just that probably wasn't enough to convince you! Here, I got this out of today's newspaper, there was a picture of him in there! Isn't he completely handsome? He shows up to help me out each time, and.. hehe, I guess you could say I sort of have a crush on him! It's the biggest secret of all though, so don't tell anyone, okay?
So.. with the four of us together, Luna told me I have to be the leader now. Our goal is to find this Silver Crystal that apparently has a lot of power, and we need to protect the Moon Princess once we find her.. it sounds like a pretty heavy duty, huh? And then I'm supposed to be the leader, even though Ami-chan's so smart and Mako-chan's so tough and Rei-chan has a leader's attitude.. compared to that, can a crybaby like me really lead them to do all of that and protect a real princess against the Dark Kingdom and its monsters?
.. Hehe, it sounds a little scary, doesn't it? But I guess all I can do is try my best!

I...yeah. I know it was. Wishes are a tricky thing. They can be great, amazing! [She messes up her hair some more, taking a deep breath.] But a person's gotta be careful around them.
You're already a magical girl so Shiromaru and the other rats like him won't be interested in you--probably--but... [She sighs.] I'd be really worried if you became a magical girl like me or Oriko.

I don't even know what's so different about you and me! I mean, we're both fighting with magical powers, isn't it the same thing?

I didn't really want to tell you about this but I guess I kinda forced myself to. [She takes a moment to run her fingers through her hair.] You guys fight the Dark Kingdom, right? Bunch of monsters and evil people. We fight witches--gross looking things that feed off despair. The thing is... Well.
[She's not even looking at the camera now.] Oriko's gonna kill me for sure for saying anything. It has to do with the Soul Gems. When you use too much energy or get too upset or something like that something really bad happens. Um. Well.
[She's rubbing the back of her neck roughly. It's like explaining witches to Erika... she didn't want to do this at all.] Witches are magical girls. That's the bad thing. Your Soul Gem turns black and becomes a Grief Seed. The Grief Seeds can help purify Soul Gems but you have to kill a witch to get it.
[She stops.] Look, I'm sorry. I didn't want to tell you...it's not really that big of a deal.

At first she hardly gets it. She reads it over and over, but it doesn't help much - all she knows is that it has to be true since that other girl commented on this too..
She still doesn't fully get it. But the main gist is that Kirika is in danger too then, right? And it's on that instinct that she can act. ]
W.. what do you mean, "not a big deal"..? Kirika-chan, I don't want you or anyone else to have to become a monster!

But it's not like she can change that. Aren't some of the best romances tragedies? If she's going to have to die or become a witch, well. She'll just make the most of it.]

It'd be great if I didn't have to die or become a witch. It really would! But... I think, with what I got from my wish.. I think if I can just be with Oriko when that end comes... I'll really be happy. I don't regret becoming a magical girl.

[She sighs. This is going to be a long story, she knows. She hopes she can say it all without losing Usagi's attention.] When I was a kid, I got hurt by my best friend. She had tried to shoplift something and I got the blame for it. Then she moved away without an explanation. That really hurt me.
[Now she knows the full story and forgave Erika but she wasn't even ten when that happened. No one could blame her for being hurt.]
I stopped trusting people after that, I became real quiet. I started skipping school. I just didn't want to be around people anymore. My classmates, my family... There was no one who I felt could help me or listen. [She's looking down at her feet.] Then I met Oriko. It was just chance. I dropped my money while paying for some groceries--everyone else was angry at me for going so slow but Oriko was the only one who tried to help me.
[She pauses again.] Oriko's dad was a politician, I think she was passing out flyers for his campaign that day, so it wasn't that hard to find out stuff about her. When we met I was so scared I wasn't able to introduce myself so I tried to find out her schedule so I could talk to her. Just once, I told myself. To thank her.
I had several chances but I couldn't bring myself to talk to her. [It wasn't stalking! Anyone could meet someone by meeting them at the station. Right? Kirika sighs a bit.] You might not believe me but the person I was... I was forgettable. I couldn't make friends, I couldn't love, I was just a face in the crowd. Even Oriko doesn't remember our first meeting.
[She takes a deep breath.] I made my wish then. I wanted to change my personality. I guess I'm just a liar, huh?

You did that..? [ Changing her personality.. did she dislike the way she was that much? But nobody's bad, right? Everyone's different, and it's okay for anyone to be the way they are, she's sure someone would eventually have noticed Kirika - heck, she's sure that even if Kirika was different than she is now, she still would have become friends with her on the community when they met. But still.. ]
That's not lying at all.. It's just.. I can only imagine the kind of pain you must have gone through all that time, Kirika-chan.. I wish I could have been here earlier to help you, so you wouldn't have to feel like you'd have to go that far to change yourself.

Oriko always says that I'm so honest. I think it'd hurt her a lot if she ever found out.

That's what friendship is all about! If she knew your story, then I'm sure she'd still accept you no matter what you are or what you did.
